" Thus, the minister communicates that Health has commissioned the Carlos III Institute, through the Consortium of the Center for Biomedical Research in Network or CIBER, the study of " definition of what is understood by persistent covid" .

The report prepared by the CIBER, under the title 'Postcovid syndrome, definition, prevalence and identification of predictors and therapeutic options' , aims to officially define not only the concept of persistent covid, but also its symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and recovery processes. rehabilitation after infection. It is expected to reach these conclusions in the next phases of the study. “This first phase has been developed and the following ones will continue to provide more information about the diagnostic process, the possible clinical and biological predictors and the burden of the disease ,” said Darias.
Darias has reported that the results obtained in this first phase of the study have alluded to a series of frequent symptoms that would be attributable to the post-covid syndrome and are of a neurocognitive nature such as memory loss, difficulty concentrating or confusion; also musculoskeletal signs such as joint or muscle pain, or limitation of mobility; and other systemic ones such as fatigue.
