Time for electric vehicles? Registrations skyrocket by 600%

Registrations of electric vehicles of all types - passenger cars, two wheels, commercial and industrial vehicles - experienced "exorbitant" growth in April. Specifically, 2,875 units were registered, 594.4% more than the 286 in the same month of the previous year. Public administrations are helping this acceleration with various aid .

The data from the Business Association for the Development and Promotion of Electric Mobility (Aedive) and the National Association of Vehicle Sellers (Ganvam)  are positive. Even in comparison with Phone Number List the last pre-pandemic year. These figures indicate that, if April 2019 is taken as a reference, although the figures are moderate, it is positive to see that sales are now 134.6% above pre-covid levels. The Moves III Plan to support electric vehicles, a stimulus
In a statement, both associations believe that the implementation of the Moves III Plan - with which, since last April 10, self-employed workers and individuals can request incentives for the purchase of vehicles - has begun to provide oxygen to the market.

Registrations in this channel are 252% above those registered in April 2019, with 949 units. However, companies are holding back on renewing their fleets until the incentives are available, since registrations in this channel moderate their growth. Specifically, up to 96% compared to the same month in 2019, reaching 1,373 units.

In addition to ensuring the continuity of aid and the increase in the budget allocation, Ganvam and Aedive trust that the new edition of Moves will involve the autonomous communities in their commitment to consume the promised funds.




Distribution by type of electric vehicle
By vehicle type, 100% electric passenger cars registered 1,424 units last month. This means 1,555% more, although that figure is 127.4% lower than April 2019.

Electric mopeds registered 668 units registered in April, 2,054% more than a year before. Zero-emission motorcycles accounted for 411 registrations, 46.8% more. Compared to 2019, the increases are 88.7% and 407%, respectively, which shows that these vehicles are the main drivers of the take-off of electromobility in urban environments.

Electric vans have also gained prominence due to the rise of online shopping, and experienced an increase of 2,890%, with 299 units registered. Since April 2019, registrations of these light commercial vehicles have increased by 131.7%.

Regarding plug-in hybrids , 3,063 units were registered in April, 4,921.3% more than a year before. And 360% more than in the same month of 2019, which places them as a key piece for the transition towards zero-emission mobility.
